![]() ![]() Right off the bat, you’ll take control of Frank in the midst of a zombie-exterminating spree where you’ll be able to sample various weapons and use them against the undead hordes. One thing that remains the same is the ability to mow down zombies. In that sense, certain parts of Dead Rising will have series fans feeling right at home while others will feel like a departure from the series’ roots. Of course, gameplay is a big part of the series’ unique flavor. That, combined with Frank’s dogged determination to stick with the journalistic principle of covering the story as opposed to being the story ultimately creates a rift between teacher and pupil that becomes a key tenet of the game’s narrative. Unlike Logan Paul, however, the game is fully aware of the disturbing nature of Frank’s desensitized take on those who passed away, making it a central point of contention between Frank and Vicky. It’s the same discomfort I felt when the whole Logan Paul mess erupted involving his video in the suicide forest. The humor is compounded by mechanics such as the ability to take selfies with Frank’s goofy mug, oftentimes involving an inappropriate background.Īt the same time, Frank’s insensitivity in dealing with zombies can be disturbing. ![]() Frank is essentially a stand-up comedian thrown into a zombie apocalypse, which results in some legitimately funny situations. This all changes when one of his students, Vicky Chu, approaches him with a scoop about a suspicious military facility in his favorite town. Instead of continuing his past exploits (he’s ACTUALLY covered wars, you know) Frank is enjoying a decidedly more peaceful life as a journalism teacher. Add a new “Capcom Heroes” mode that lets you dress Frank in a wide array of Capcom characters and you have the definitive version of the game.Īs its name implies, “Dead Rising 4: Frank’s Big Package,” has you returning as mainstay character Frank West. As someone who didn’t get to play Dead Rising 4 when it first came out, Frank’s Big Package was a great way to experience the latest entry in the series, complete with all its DLC. That being said, I was actually curious to see how this iteration of the zombie-smacking franchise turned out. I mean, not that there’s anything wrong with that. They probably doth think that Jason protesteth too much. ![]() Naturally, this was quickly followed by me mansplaining that it was the name of a video game that I received a review code for. It probably didn’t help that we used to have a co-worker named Frank. ![]() Immediately, two female co-workers around me turned around, giving me this look of half-bewilderment and and half amusement. ![]()
